Helleborus 'Black Diamond' - Lenten Rose
.
Common name: Lenten Rose
Family: Ranunculaceae (Buttercup Family)
Hardiness: 4a
Life form: Evergreen perennial
Comments: Hellebore, also called Lenten rose, provides a much needed display of color in the less exciting winter landscape. This perennial will start blooming in mid to late winter and its display will last deep in to spring. Its tough semi-evergreen leaves may burn and die back in the heat of central Oklahoma, but it will still flower dependably every winter. ‘Black Diamond’ has deep purple, nearly black petals.
