Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii 'Goldsturm' - Black-Eyed Susan
.
Common name: Black-Eyed Susan
Family: Asteraceae (Aster Family)
Synonym: Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii 'Goldstrum'
Distribution: North America
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Life form: Perennial plant
Comments: Rudbeckias are a mainstay of ornamental horticulture. Their astounding ease of growth combined with the knockout flower display made them a longstanding favorite perennial. They’re also a pollinator favorite and food source for birds, but are unbothered by rabbits, deer and most other pests.
Golden blooms appear in mass in mid-summer and last over a month. They make great cut flowers and are great companion plants other flowers. There are many species native to the dry prairies of Oklahoma.
The cultivar 'Goldsturm' is more compact than the species with larger flowers. This perennial has a long-lived display of bright yellow flowers from midsummer to autumn. Selected as the 1999 Perennial Plant of the Year, this is a summer showstopper.
