Forsythia × intermedia 'Lynwood Gold' - Border Forsythia
.
Common name: Border Forsythia
Family: Oleaceae (Olive Family)
Distribution: Europe
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Hardiness: 5a
Life form: Deciduous shrub/sub-shrub
Comments: 'Lynwood Gold' is a naturally-occurring branch sport of Forsythia x intermedia 'Spectabilis'. It is a vigorous, heavy-blooming forsythia that is noted for producing a spectacular late winter to early spring bloom of somewhat larger-than-usual bright yellow flowers which literally cover the branches with bloom before the new spring foliage emerges. After flowering, it blends back into the landscape for the remainder of the growing season as an upright-spreading, deciduous shrub. Ovate leaves are dark green in the summer, and turn yellow with purple tinges in fall.
