Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea' - Yellow Twig Dogwood
.
Common name: Yellow Twig Dogwood
Family: Cornaceae (Dogwood family)
Distribution: North America
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Hardiness: 3a
Life form: Deciduous shrub/sub-shrub
Comments: 'Flaviramea' is a yellow dogwood cultivar. It is a compact shrub which grows to approximately 5'-6' feet tall and wide with a spreading, stoloniferous habit. The most popular feature of this shrub is its yellow twigs/stems, which provide an excellent winter interest. Tiny, fragrant, white flowers appear in flat-topped clusters in late spring, with sparse, intermittent, flowering sometimes continuing into summer. Flowers give way to clusters of whitish (sometimes with a bluish tinge) drupes in summer. The fruit is quite attractive to birds and is generally considered to have as much if not more ornamental interest than the flowers.
