Ilex vomitoria 'Nana' - Yaupon Holly
.
Common name: Yaupon Holly
Family: Aquifoliaceae (Holly family)
Distribution: North America
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Hardiness: 7a
Life form: Evergreen shrub/sub-shrub
Comments: This evergreen shrub is dwarf cultivar of Yaupon Holly, never growing over five feet in height or width. It's common to find this shrub trimmed into hedges or shaped into topiary balls in the landscape. The small white flowers in the spring are somewhat striking. The red drupe berries that are common with Yaupon Holly are not as noticeable with this dwarf cultivar. The berries will stay on during the winter, attracting birds and other wildlife as a food source.
