Comments: Oleaster is a large, spreading evergreen shrub that can grow 8 to 12 feet tall. New leaves are covered in silvery-white scales that age to dark green but maintain their silver color below. It is a vigorous, fast-growing shrub that can tolerate many soils, including infertile ones. It prefers full sun to part shade and can tolerate drought once established. Non-showy flowers bloom in the fall and are followed by edible red fruits in the spring that are said to taste like a peanut.
