Taxon

Solidago sphacelata 'Golden Fleece'

.
.
Common name: Goldenrod
Family: Asteraceae (Aster Family)
Distribution: North America
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Hardiness: 4a
Life form: Perennial plant
Comments: This compact, spreading goldenrod typically growing 15-18" tall. It features tiny, bright yellow flowers in dense, plume-like panicles on the ends of alternate-leaved stems. Rosettes of toothed, heart-shaped foliage form a low-growing, dark green ground cover when plants are not in flower. Goldenrod can be easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun. It tolerates poor, dry soils. It's recommended to remove spent flower clusters to encourage additional bloom. Flowers arrive in late summer to fall. It's attractive to bees and butterflies, and makes a good cut flower.
