Caryopteris × clandonensis - Blue Mist Bluebeard
.
Common name: Blue Mist Bluebeard
Family: Lamiaceae (Mint Family)
Distribution: Asia
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Hardiness: 5a
Life form: Deciduous shrub/sub-shrub
Comments: This is a fast-growing perennial plant that can take the worst of a hot summer (heat, lack of water, and humidity) and still manage to perform well. It offers dependable foliage and pretty blue flowers from mid to late summer. Growth habit is a low-growing, finely-textured mound and that is also deer-resistant. It likes full sun to part shade and very well-drained soil that is not overly rich. Cut back in late winter for a strong, dense shrub in summer.
