Allium 'Millenium' - Ornamental Onion
.
Common name: Ornamental Onion
Family: Amaryllidaceae (Amaryllis Family)
Distribution: Garden Hybrid
Hardiness: 5a
Life form: Geophyte (bulb, corm or tuber)
Comments: Perennial plant of the year in 2018, this cultivar of allium has been a low-maintenance and dependable favorite at Myriad Gardens.
Unlike most alliums that bloom in spring, this cultivar blooms in early to mid-summer with smaller spherical blooms and has attractive, glossy-green foliage. It's a low grower at only 18", so a perfect front of the border plant. It's tolerant of poor and dry soil. Another bonus is the rabbits don't touch it! We can't recommend it enough.
