Comments: This shrub lives up to its name by bringing its sweet aroma to shaded areas of the landscape. This deciduous shrub features aromatic foliage, stems, roots, and fragrant dark red flowers which appear in late spring. It is adaptable to many soil conditions and is very resistant to disease and insect issues. It has an erect multi-stemmed, yet rounded form, suckers prolifically and can reach dimensions of 10 feet at maturity. Sweetshrub is best used where the fragrance can be enjoyed such as a border, patio, or used as a naturalized planting.
