.
Common name: Blue-Eyed Grass
Family: Iridaceae (Iris family)
Distribution: United States
Hardiness: 4a
Life form: Perennial plant
Comments: Although it is called blue-eyed grass, it is actually a member of the iris family. Its thin, grass-like leaves are an attractive blue-green. The purple flowers with bright yellow centers appear in early summer. It can grow in full sun to part shade. Though native to Oklahoma, it will need shelter from the most extreme summer temperatures, with some afternoon shade.
