Comments:
Fragrant sumac is a deciduous shrub that grows 1 to 2 feet tall with excellent red and orange fall color. It spreads by root suckers up to 8 feet wide and can be used as a groundcover in areas prone to erosion or with poor soil. The leaves and stems are fragrant when crushed. The odor is described by some as skunky, hence another common name, skunkbush. Small red berries appear in fall attracting animals. They are edible, but sour.
