Amsonia hubrichtii - Threadleaf Bluestar
.
Common name: Threadleaf Bluestar
Family: Apocynaceae (Dogbane Family)
Distribution: Oklahoma, Arkansas
Life form: Perennial plant
Comments: Threadleaf bluestar grows wild on the rocky outcrops of Arkansas and Oklahoma and is one of our all-around best native perennials. In the spring, blue star-shaped flowers top the long feathery shoots. Reaching up to 3 feet, the finely-textured foliage adds interest to perennial or mixed borders and looks great in mass plantings. Threadleaf bluestar really shines in the fall when the foliage turns a brilliant golden yellow.
